Abstract
Extravasation of cytotoxic drugs may cause severe tissue damage. Extravasation of cytotoxic agents has been estimated to have a frequency ranging from 0.1 to 6.5% of all cytotoxic infusions. In this review several cytostatic agents, known to cause severe local toxicity, are described and possible therapeutic management is recommended. Recently registered cytotoxic agents and newly available forms of therapeutic management will be emphasized.
