Samenvatting
Burkitt lymphoma is a poorly differentiated, rare and aggressive type of a non-hodgkin lymphoma. In this article we describe a 6-year-old girl, who was seen in Sophia Children's Hospital of the Erasmus Medical Center with a rapidly progressive inspiratory stridor and obstructed airway due to a right sided asymmetric tonsillar tumor. Bone marrow biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of Burkitt lymphoma and she was started on chemotherapy. The tumor size decreased markedly within several days, so that surgical intervention for a safe airway could be avoided.
